My first gay meeting...HELP! - Love and Romance

Recommended Posts

So far I've been saying "I'm bi-curious". Now I'm coming to understand that "bi-curious" it means for me "hey-I-think-I'm-gay-but-still-not-ready-to-label-myself".

Since I luck in gay friends, I've decided to join a LGBT meeting. However, I cannot seem to be able to stop my stupid panic attacks! I know this is for the best but somehow this doesn't help much.

So...any advice people? I have a week to prepare mentally myself.

It was hard for me to go to my first meeting. My first Gay Striaght alliance meeting. I say just go and not say much about your self. Feel the situation out. They shoudl be understanding. My group was. I came out on my own terms.

To the one I intend to go is a new social group where they "create a comfy and safe environment to meet, chat and make new friends"(their words).

Mine is a Gay Straight alliance. I am the president now. We make a safe enviroment for people to come to and we teach others about the LGBT community,

try going to your first meeting and all they talked about was gay guy sex. i was a little disapointed. but it made me a little more confortable with me being myself for if being gay is so wrong then why was everyone there so happy. its ok to be strieght, gay, bi-curious, or what-ever u want to call yourself cause all it is is a word. u choose who u want to love and how u want to love them. i hope that helps. good luck.

....after the meeting!!

Firstly, thank you guys for giving me the courage to make that step. My stress didn't decrease but you helped me make the decision to go no matter how scared I felt.

I'm not going to describe how shaky my hands were or how my cup of coffee turned out to be my imaginary "teddy bear" which I held on tight all the time! But after the first "hello" I felt I could finally breathe. The group was simply amazing. They did anything possible to make you feel comfortable and accepted. I was able to talk, discuss, socialise. I felt secured. And definately I'll go again.

Once again, thank you all!
