  • Where do you wank?

Masturbation month burst onto the scene in the US in 1995 by a sex-toy store, now it's intended to reduce the stigma of self-love - and why not! We all do it (anyone who says they don't is lying or a nun), so let's get it all out in the open. Following on from our recent article '5 reasons why it's good to m...

  • DO YOU STILL READ PRINT NEWSPAPERS?
    Brave-Heart
How many of you still read the printed version of your hometown newspaper? I do. I look forward to sitting down around 11 AM with cup of coffee and going through the paper leaving the Jumble and Crossword puzzles for the last before I get dressed and start my day. Many things have changed with the paper, first and foremost the price. To subscribe for a year costs,...

  • MOVIE HAPPENINGS PART 1
    Brave-Heart
(COMMENT BOARD AT THE GATEWAY THEATRE) This is a 7 part series of movies from the past so they will be remembered by a new generation that may only know a few. Out of the millions of movies made in the 20th century there are moments that are imprinted in your mind that can pop up at any time. It can range from a shower scene with haunting music or an actress entering a scene or walking...

  • "THE ROAD WITHIN"--A MOVIE REVIEW
    Brave-Heart
By default instead of seeing “The Water Diviner” we went to see “The Road Within” a ‘small’ independent movie that wouldn’t be made by one of the big studios. The film opens with Vincent (Robert Sheehan) in church at his mother’s funeral ceremony sitting with his father (Robert Patrick), a politician, when all of a sudden he bursts into twitches and out loud foul language...

  • MOVIE HAPPENINGS PART 2
    Brave-Heart
Though I am a great list maker regarding things I have to do and things I must do on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. My problem comes when I am asked to make lists of my favorite actors, actresses, movies, plays, musicals, books, etc. I look over these lists and I see so many names I have left out plus how many if I were making the lists today wouldn’t be on it or at least the position they are on. I’ll stick by these lists for now, especially the ‘yesteryear’ categories, but the new ones can change from day to day. All lists are arbitrary but there are two things I am sure of with the first being that Charlize Theron gives/gave THE best performance on the silver screen ever given and “A Chorus Line”...

    "Come on, scumbags" Documentary ilm

synopsis: The lead character of the movie is modern day heroine, a girl aged 18 not yet ready to carry a burden of responsibility. A typical subculture representative, Jane can’t boast certain talents living the ordinary life of a provincial girl entering adulthood: she likes dancing, meeting guys,...

  • COLLECTIONS OF DVDS AND VHS TAPES AND BOOKS PART 1

When I was young, about 1996 when I was 60, I had a collection of over 500 books and a collection of VHS tapes exceeding 400 movies plus I had taped all the Oscar and Tony award shows every year. One day I realized that I only read 7 of the books a few times each and, maybe, watched a dozen of the tapes more than once though I would watch the same movie if I saw it while surfing television. As I learned when people get older they...

    I SHOULD BUT I DON'T WANT TO!

I am sitting here looking at a list I made this past weekend of things I should do and get done this week. There are 19 different items and all I can think of is, “So what if I don’t do it today?” The world won’t come to an end if (#8) I don’t replant the plants today or plant the rest of the seeds I have. I suppose I could schedule my ultrasound (#5) for next Thursday...

    AND SHE IS NOT GOING!

On Broadway there is a song known as the ‘11 o’clock number’ when a star does a show stopping number or a show stopping number makes a star. An example can be Ethel Merman as Rose in “Gypsy” singing “My Turn” but now it seems the 11 o’clock number has become a 9:30 or first act closing number such as Donna McKechnie as Cassie singing, dancing and acting “The Music and...

MOVIE HAPPENING PART 7 THE END?

And the titles keep on coming but I'll finish it today. "The Fan" with Lauren Bacall is every inch a star who has a young, male fan obsessed with her--a good suspense mystery that was underrated at the time it came out--with Maureen Stapleton and James Garner "Ordinary People" Mary Tyler Moore is no perky Mary in this one--excellent directorial debut by Robert Redford--Timothy Hutton deservedly won supporting actor...

    LOVING THE LIFE I LEAD!

Gateway and Karen Bay part 1 (IS THIS WHAT 'THEY' MEAN BY 'GAY LIFESTYLE'?) The Gateway Terrace apartments, where I live, has a section that we refer to as The Point which is at the far east end. It juts out into Karen Bay in the New River just beyond our pool. Most late afternoons and/or early evenings a group of residents come...

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD A MOVIE REVIEW

As of today “Mad Max: Fury Road” holds the title for ‘the loudest movie of 2015’ though from what I saw of summer previews it may not hold it for too long! It has been 30 years since the original Mad Max trilogy and memory may be wrong but I remember a deeper and more involving story along with a young Mel Gibson showing more emotion than the current Max played by Tom...
