Big Beautiful Smile

Disarmed by one big beautiful smile,
I had no armor left.
My resistance crumbled like dried leaves,
My heart beat wildly in my
Chest.

She had me from that breathy hello,
Then cocooned me in her scent;
Caught off guard by all her charm,
My knees, like rubber…
Went.

Our eyes locked across the room,
Space and furniture our only separation,
I suddenly wished for my cocoon of lies…
It seemed my only salvation.

Two women fighting an inner battle
A war against themselves;
Feelings they had kept too long,
Bottled on an emotional
Shelf.
Crossing the room,
Like the great divide,
Drawn like magnets to one another,
Struggling, wanting, longing…
To put out the fire that needed to be
Smothered.

Taking comfort in the passion,
Filling up the space.
I fell into her loving arms,
Disarmed by the big beautiful smile
That grew wider on her
Face.
